#4 – April 20 (Wednesday)

Apr 20, 2022

Morning Meeting Activity:

  • Human Scavenger Hunt

Math: Prodigy

Literacy: Narrative Writing

Today’s short film was “Dust Buddies”. We viewed it a total of two times, and analyzed the various parts of the plot together.

Students also worked on developing their own writing goal to work towards as they work on their “Greatest Excuse” story. What is some feedback you have heard a few times before in regard to your writing that you can work on? Is it spelling? Punctuation? Writing longer sentences? Writing varied sentences? These writing goals will be used to help shape some mini writing lessons that we will do in the upcoming classes.

Outdoor Education:

Nature investigations:

  1. Do straight lines exist in nature?
  2. What colours do you not see in nature?

Most students concluded that you can find straight lines in nature (e.g., pine needles, some tree branches).

The general consensus was that it is hard to find the following colours: teal, cyan blue, and purple.

We also spent some time playing gaga ball. It was a hit!

Investigate & Explore:

  • Observations on tomato germination: U vs. T seeds? Which ones have successfully germinated?
  • Fact of the day: The plant grows towards the light. We have shifted the way the plant box is placed to hopefully straighten them out (so they are not leaning).
  • Survival needs of the ducks and chickens (at different stages of development).
  • What are the various parts of an egg, and what roles do they have in the development of chickens and ducks?
