#3 – April 13 (Wednesday)

Apr 13, 2022

Morning Meeting Activity:

Students were given a piece of paper and scissors, and no instructions, to figure out how to build the above. What worked? What didn’t? What changes do you need to make?

Math: Prodigy

Literacy: Narrative Writing

As a class, we watched a short film and dissected the parts of the plot together.

Students continued to use their plot graphic organizer to brainstorm their “Greatest Excuse” story.

Investigate and Explore:

  • Today, we really focused on understanding what independent, dependent, and control variables are.
  • Science experiment: water density (hot vs. cold)
    • Independent variable = which temperature water we put on top
    • Dependent variable = whether the water floats (which we can see with the coloured dye) or sinks and mixes.
    • Control variables = colour dye, temperature of both water (cold and hot), size of cups, steps taken
  • Kahoot = About Variables https://create.kahoot.it/details/2b5a7084-6660-4bc5-a6da-f3effe905315

Easter Egg Hunt:

  • Students searched for a total of 24 eggs, each with a letter and a chocolate hidden inside of them. Their task was to unscramble the two words, “biodiversity” and “stewardship”.
