- Investigate and Explore:
- Literacy – P’ésk’a and the First Salmon Ceremony (reading strategies: predictions and connections)
- Why is salmon important? How is interconnected with the ecosystem? What significance does salmon have to Indigenous Peoples?
- Cause + effect of climate change on salmon. (This was only briefly touched upon and will be fully developed next week.)
- Students worked on a web (graphic organizer) while engaging in some research. They used some of the resources outlined in the table below. A group of students was assigned two topics, and the other group was assigned the other two. After their research, they taught each other what they learned (focusing on the impact the salmon has on the topic and vice versa).
- Quiet Activity – reading, puzzles, drawing
- Art – Salmon and its connections
- Students chose at least 3 things salmon impacts or is impacted by (e.g., rivers, bears, and trees) and incorporated them as drawings within a salmon template.
